Chung Cheong University is located in the center of South Korea in Chungcheongbuk-Do (North Chungcheong Province) and is easily accessible to Seoul and other major Korean cities. The university can be reached within one and a half hours from Seoul (112 km) and thirty minutes from Daejeon (40km), the 4th largest metropolitan area.

The university is located on the outskirts of Cheongju, the capital city of Chungcheongbuk-Do. The city was established over a thousand years ago and has grown to a population of 650,000 while transforming into a modern city. It has an international airport, a gateway to other Asian countries. Cheongju is known as a city of education and is a center for many political, cultual and educational opportunities and events.

The city boasts its own ballet company and philharmonic orchestra. Chungcheongbuk-Do is the only landlocked province in South Korea and is surrounded by beautiful mountains, rivers, lakes, farmlands and hotsprings. The natural environment is well preserved and is ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, skiing, fishing and picnicking. Many Buddhist temples and sanctuaries are nestled in the mountains providing ideal places to stop and rest while hiking. UNESCO has designated the province for its claim in having the oldest movable metal type printing press, invented 200 years before the Gutenberg press. The printing museum is one of the province's many fine museums. The province also hosts many cultural and athletic festivals and events.

The province's proximity to the national capital is economically advantageous in regards to transportation and urban services. New industries have mushroomed around CCU and many Seoul-based high-tech industries have offices and factories in the area. Recently, the Korean federal government is in the process of developing comprehensive biotechnology complexes. All of these recent developments have attracted many foreign companies and investors. Truly, Chungcheongbuk-Do is embracing the new century by reaching out to the world.
